Frequently, we seek counseling because of uncomfortable,
even painful feelings. This can be especially true
during times of transition and change. But sometimes
we look for help just because “it’s time” – the struggle to
feel better without help or clarity has gone on long
enough!
Perhaps the troubling emotions are those of anger,
fear, depression, anxiety, loneliness, or guilt.
They may include feeling overwhelmed,
confused or even stuck. Sometimes, however,
we have no
idea what we are feeling
at all – rather we have a
sense that
something is not right about our lives,
our work, our relationships.
Counseling can be a powerful gift of self-care –
the time, space and assistance needed to uncover
and sort through issues, experiences and perhaps
hopes and dreams as well. We can then have
the opportunity to feel more at ease in making
rewarding, healthy choices for ourselves based
on self-discovery and self-acceptance. |
